For a decade, the trading industry sold you one promise: a smarter black box. Deeper models, more features, bigger GPUs. The pitch was always “trust the output”. That era is quietly ending \u2014 and the reason is boring. Explanations beat accuracy, every single time, when real money is on the line.<\/p>\n
Here is the uncomfortable truth. A model that is right 68% of the time but tells you why<\/em> is more useful than a model that is right 73% of the time but gives you nothing but an arrow. The 68% model loses on paper. It wins in practice because its users compound: they learn when to disagree, when to fade it, when to size up.<\/p>\n The 73% model trains its users into learned helplessness. Three wins in a row and they size up blindly. One streak of losses and they close the account.<\/p>\n Most of what gets called “explainable AI” in trading is window-dressing.
